Michael R. Einig

Michael R. Einig is an attorney at Avid Legal. He has more than fifteen years of experience advising public and private companies and individual executives on executive compensation and employee benefits law, including the preparation, review, and counseling of a range of compensation arrangements and compliance with applicable regulatory requirements.

His practice covers non-qualified deferred compensation arrangements, compliance with Section 409A of the Internal Revenue Code, and the design and implementation of deferred compensation plans. He advises on equity and synthetic equity-based compensation, change of control issues, and golden parachutes. He also counsels clients on employee benefits and ERISA matters, including the structure, implementation, and administration of retirement plans, compliance audits, and submissions under IRS and DOL programs, as well as guidance on the Affordable Care Act, COBRA, and HIPAA compliance.

Michael also works on the compensation aspects of mergers and acquisitions, analyzing and negotiating those terms, designing severance and early retirement programs, and advising on the consolidation of benefit plans following a transaction. Prior to founding Executive Compensation & Employee Benefits Law PLLC, he was a shareholder at Greenberg Traurig.

Michael holds an LL.M. in Taxation from New York University School of Law, a J.D., cum laude, from Western New England College School of Law, and B.A. degrees in English from Rhode Island College and in Political Science from James Madison University. He is a member of The Florida Bar.
